Luke 1:28-38
Mary said to the angel, "How can this be since I have no relations with a man? ... I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done according to your word." And the angel departed.
What does she know of this so soon? Nothing, I hope. Let her rejoice and celebrate and ponder all the particulars of Jesus' birth. Let her bring forth the newborn babe, and watch while he brings forth the kingdom of God. Earthbound, we are no more. Come and enter the world you made, Lord. You are the king of glory. The earth and all its fullness belong only to you. And your love crowns my head with grace and peace. |
