Season's Greetings throughout eternityFriday, December 17, 2010
Matthew 1:17 Beth Moore points out something that changes this perspective. When the Bible talks about the coming of Jesus, it's about the "fullness of time." Time fills up; it doesn't run out. When the fullness of time has come, Jesus is born. God comes to earth. All those fourteen generations, and another fourteen, and another fourteen, have been waiting for this moment. We live in its aftermath. In its history, mankind may seem indifferent to Him, but the presence of Jesus changes everything. There is no longer any hurry to find purpose or plan or focus or future, because Jesus is here. God's purpose is accomplished. All my work, and all of yours, rests on this foundation. When I forget it I struggle, get confused, and eventually die. When I remember, even death has no dominion. Life is full. Eternal life is now. Happy. Happy new. Happy new day. Happy new year! Father, our feet walk on the earth where Jesus walked. Jesus, you inhabit all the corners of the world. You have made all things new, and they never grow old. Let my life and eventual physical death be for gladness, and for resurrection, and forever. |
