Leaping and laughingWednesday, April 15, 2009
Acts 3:1-8 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, \"Look at us!\" So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, \"Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.\" Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man\'s feet and ankles became strong.
He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.
The crippled man probably had very strong arms, which he used to compensate for the atrophied muscles in his useless legs. What kind of throbbing life did he suddenly feel in those legs of his? It had nothing to do with exercise. It happened instantly, without obvious cause. Healing like this happens today. When it does everyone is tempted to make it into something less than supernatural. Could it be a fake healing? It's happened before. Ask the guy who's been healed, if you can slow him down long enough. He's laughing and leaping and praising God. He isn't asking questions; he's a little kid again, loved by God and loving him back. He has all the time in the world to be God's son. I can't wait to sing to you, Lord, and tell of all your wonderful acts, and glory in your holy name. Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. |
